Stearns & Foster Calloway Garden Luxury Plush

Caller from San Jose Calif was trying to decide between the Stearns & Foster Calloway Garden Luxury Plush or the Stearns & Foster Calloway Luxury Plush Euro Pillow Top.  She loved the soft feel of this mattress.  Our Stearns & Foster Springbrook Luxury Plush & Stearns & Foster Springbrook Luxury Plush Euro Pillow Top is the same as the Calloway Garden.  She informed us that she sleeps in all three positions at night ( side, back and stomach).  She was concerned that the Pillow Top at 16 3/4 inches in height would be to high.  She is only 5' 1".
Although the height of the pillow top was an issue for her we did advise that the luxury plush comfort level would be more supportive when sleeping on her back or stomach.  She would still have the soft cozy feel she was looking for.

Having trouble finding 76 x 80 King Sheets in Calif.

We had a very interesting call from one of our customers in California.  Her mattress is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow and she has had difficulty finding standard 76 x 80 King sheets at her major stores.  Calif  King Size which is 72 x 84 is available at most stores but not the 76 x 80.  We thought this was good information to pass along to our future Calif. customers.  We do have both sizes available for our customers.

9" Foundation or Low Profile?

It is very important to know how high your bed is off the floor to where you foundation will sit.  A metal bed frame is usually 6 1/2 to 7" high.  You want to combine your mattress height with the foundation height and then the height of the bed or metal bed frame from the floor.  All three measurements combined will tell you how high your mattress set will be from the floor up.  A mistake that is often times made is not taking into the equation the height of the bed.  We just recently spoke with a customer ordering a new bed that is 11 1/2" from the floor to where the foundation would sit.  This is a big difference and he needs to be careful with the selection of his new mattress and foundation.  Always talk to your sales representative about foundation height before ordering.

What's the difference between the warranty and comfort guarantee?

Consumer Reports did a great job of answering several important questions about  Mattresses and addressing frequently asked questions by consumers.  This is what they had to say about the difference
between a warranty and a comfort exchange.  "A warranty covers manufacturing defects, while a comfort guarantee allows dissatisfied consumers the opportunity to exchange a mattress if it doesn't live up to expectations, typically within 21 to 100 days.  But note that most comfort guarantees carry a penalty of as much as $400 or 15% of the purchase price, and there could also be a redelivery charge.  So be sure to ask.  The models we tested from Sealy, Serta, and Simmons offered a non-prorated 10-year warranty; the Select Comfort and Tempur-Pedic warranties were for 20 years.  The Select Comfort warranty was prorated after a few years, and the Tempur-Pedic was prorated after 10.  Prorating refers to a warranty that covers less and less of the original purchase price the longer you've owned the mattress.  If your mattress is stained, that could also void the warranty."

Are Low Profile Box Springs Supportive?

Callers ask this question often when deciding between the standard 9" box spring or the Low Profile box spring that is usually 5 1/4". The support for your mattress is there with either box spring. With the height of mattresses today, up to 18" it is necessary to offer a lower foundation. When deciding which height is best you need 3 measurements. The mattress height, the foundation height, and height of your bed frame from the floor. For example: Mattress 18", bed frame 6 1/2", foundation 9".

This would place your mattress completely set up at 33" high. If this is to high then you would select the low profile box spring which will lower your total height by 4" making your mattress set 29" completely set up. Sleeping on a Pillow Top, Lower back pain!

Caller from New Jersey wondering if her Pillow Top mattress was why she is waking up with lower back pain. She said she did not experience this with her previous mattress. After asking her many questions we did advise her to purchase a different mattress. She said her pillow top is very soft and thick. She is 160 lbs and sleeps on her stomach. As a stomach sleeper you should not sleep on a mattress that is to soft. If the mattress is to soft and you are more pear shaped your mid section can sink into the mattress lower than the rest of your body and therefore cause your spine to be out of alignment. I stayed at a B&B and they said their mattress was a Sealy Posturepedic "Royal Trilogy" (was for Hotels only) and it was amazing. She had heard that Simmons was changing their line-up of mattresses and the house she will be moving to will not be ready until around mid May. Is it time for a new pillow?

Hello, I am writing to let you know we have alway purchases a Simmons mattress as we were never unhappy till now. The one we purchased was $1200 and we have only had it for 2 and a half years and we both wake up with back aches every morning and have for at lease a year. I was hoping you would be able to give us a replacement of some kind since we spend so much, Money it tight and this is so dissappointing as we both work a couple jobs and really need a good night sleep. You need to contact the store you purchased your Simmons Beautyrest mattress from. If the mattress is defective they will provide an inspection and if covered under your warranty Simmons will replace your mattress.
